Standard vs. Deep Cleaning: Which One Do You Need?
By Premier House Cleaning Services Katy · Published
A standard clean fits a home that is already maintained and needs its kitchen, bathrooms, dusting and floors done. A deep clean fits a home where baseboards, tracks, fixtures, grease or shower buildup have fallen behind. Inside the oven, fridge and cabinets are extras on both, but come included with an empty-home move-out clean.
What does a standard clean keep up with?
A Premier standard visit runs through the rooms you use every day. Counters, the sink and stovetop, appliance exteriors, bathrooms, reachable dusting and all the floors get done, beds are straightened and trash goes out. Fresh sheets go on only when you leave them out and ask.
Standard is the right call when surfaces are easy to reach and the house is in reasonable shape. Your first visit does not automatically have to be a deep clean. Judge it by what the home actually looks like, not just by how many weeks it has been.
What extra work comes with a deep clean?
A deep clean includes the full standard checklist, then adds hand detail on baseboards, door frames, doors, switches, window tracks, cabinet fronts and the fans and fixtures we can reach. Kitchens and bathrooms get extra time on grease, soap scum and grime that have settled in over months.
If you live in one of the newer builds around Katy, Fulshear or Cinco Ranch, mention any leftover construction dust. Tell us too if contractors are still working or if paint, adhesive or debris remain, because that is builder cleanup and not a normal deep clean. Vent dusting covers the grilles you can see, not the ductwork.
- Run a finger along a baseboard and see if dust comes off.
- Look at the stovetop and range hood for sticky grease.
- Note the state of shower glass and grout, including stains that may be permanent.
- Point out which furniture is safe to move and which should stay put.
What do neither standard nor deep cleans include?
Inside the fridge, oven and cabinets are optional on both standard and deep visits, and interior windows and blinds have to be requested. Carpet shampooing, high outside windows, pest droppings, biohazards and mold remediation fall outside a normal home clean.
Cleaning removes dirt, but it does not restore damaged surfaces. Etched stone, worn caulk, cracked grout and permanent discoloration may still show after a thorough clean. Point out delicate finishes ahead of time so the team can use the right approach instead of guessing on an unfamiliar material.
How should I choose my first visit?
Share your home size and a plain description of how the kitchen and bathrooms look. If the main problem is everyday dust and floors, a standard clean is likely enough. If the detail work has slipped, start with a deep clean and then move to recurring standard visits.
If the house is empty between owners or tenants, look at our move-in and move-out checklist instead. It includes the inside of cabinets and appliances, which a deep clean leaves as extras. The free checklist on this site lets you compare all three side by side before you call.
